A Nanoencapsulated Visible Dye for Real Time Delineation of Brain Tumor Margins
Aims of Project:
Develop and characterize a long-circulating nanoencapsulated visible dye to be intravenously administered for the demarcation of intracranial tumor borders. A tumor border highlighted with a visible dye would inform the surgeon what tissue should be removed and what tissue should remain. Therefore, we will develop a system to deliver dye specifically to cancer cells which is visible to the naked eye.
Determine the tumor margin marking accuracy of the nanoencapsulated dye using an aggressive, invasive glioma model in rodents.
