As part of its core mission, the Georgia Cancer Coalition works closely with the private sector to achieve the goals of the statewide cancer effort. In some instances, this is through state-funded contracts with private entities. In other cases, foundations and corporations provide funding or services to the Coalition. Representatives of the business, philanthropic and healthcare communities are actively engaged in the development of the Coalition's plans and programs.
The private sector also has donated significant in-kind resources to assist the Coalition and its programs in operating economically and efficiently. Civic groups and volunteers donate their time to organize events like cancer screening days, health fairs, promotion of breast cancer license plates and even the acclaimed Tour de Georgia professional bicycle race that benefits the Georgia Cancer Coalition.
